Photojournalism: Hurricane Gustav

These are the photos from Hurricane Gustav. The first 18 images are of the preparations. Mostly you'll see boarded up windows. One image has which window each board belongs on. Apparently this family does this often and have the system down. I'll keep snapping photos and try to update when i get some good ones. I have twitter set up on my phone, so if the power goes out, I'll still be making updates. You can see that up in the right hand corner.

Dawn is uploading videos, she's putting them all on her blog as she gets them.

UPDATE (12PM): It's just a little windy with some rain. The eye is about 9 hours away, though.The still camera isn't really that good at capturing the wind, and that's about all we have right now as of about noon on Monday.

UPDATE 2 (2PM): The wind is really picking up! We saw our first bit of damage. A satellite dish flew off the roof and a gutter got ripped off the other building.

UPDATE 3 (6PM): The hurricane is over. We're venturing out for some photos.

UPDATE 4 (Tuesday @ 4): Just got back from New Iberia for some photos. Uploaded them to CNN and the guy from CNN called me, they might put them on TV!

Photojournalism: Louisiana Republican Caucus

Tonight, I went to the Louisiana Republican caucus in Lafayette Parish, mostly to check out how the system worked, and I was curious about how many Ron Paul supporters would be in Lafayette. There were only two tables, Ron Paul and Mitt Romney. Ron Paul had the rest of the candidates outnumbered but over the course of the night, it was the same guys. It was interesting seeing the passion of those guys, and how helpful they were to everyone trying to figure out the caucus process. All in all, it was great, I had a couple of awesome political discussion with some Republicans. The first picture is not by me, in fact its of me. Thats the guy from AOC that always wears camoflage and has that upside-down American flag. The rest of the photos are by me.
